About Brian Ingham
Freshwater beach the birth place of Australian surfing was Brian's backyard. The beach culture was being created right there. The hub of modern surfboard manufacturing was in Brookvale in the 70's. A short push bike ride from the beach to Brooky the work suited him perfectly.
Brian also found traveling to find waves his next favourite pastime. South Africa was on his short list, where he enjoyed the local waves and local hospitality to his likening. Upon his return to Australia he moved up to to Far North Coast and was part of a fledgling surf industry starting up in Byron around '72. With the abundance of surfbreaks around the area it wasn't long before the surfboard industry became part of the local scene.
He has also traveled to Hawaii, Indo, NZ and through Europe where he has shaped in France, Germany, Portugal and the Basque Country. Brian's craftsmanship is evident in every shape, his boards are refined, stylised accurate shapes. He is one of only a handful of shapers that shape everything off the blank. It's something he likes to carve out himself each board for each individual surfer.
